Verify control before changing anything
Find the domain registrar and confirm the business owner has a working recovery method. Record the account owner and renewal responsibility. The domain and the website host are related but separate services; moving one does not automatically move the other.
Protect the other records
A website launch can affect business email if DNS changes are made carelessly. Inventory existing records, redirects and connected services before proposing changes. Do not assume a generic hosting instruction is correct for every account and domain arrangement.
Plan the handoff on paper
Agree on who approves the change, who performs it and how success is checked. Keep the prior configuration available for review and document the next renewal date. Customer ownership should survive a change of agency or employee.
Turn the note into a next action.
Write down what is true today, who owns the next decision and what evidence would show the work is complete. Start small enough that the team can follow through.
